Sermon Outline:
When the Bible tells about fatherhood, it usually relates to the issue of discipline. Most of us have experienced discipline from our human fathers yet we did not interpret this as a sign that they hated us. God does the same thing. If we try to short-circuit His dealings with us, He may have to teach us over a longer period of time. Like the term “discipline,” the word father is often forgotten these days. Where is our earthly father? Is he present at home? No matter what, is our heavenly Father always with us to train and discipline us. He is not only a great Instructor and Trainer but also the Forerunner and Finisher Himself of the faith race. When a discipline comes, as it does often in the form of sufferings, embrace it. Don’t give up but cheer up. God’s discipline is a proof of His love and no children of His escape it.
